Description: This message flows out of a personal desire to be more effective in prayer and a desire to help others along that journey as well. How do we move into greater spiritual authority so that our prayers get answered? In this sermon Pastor Richard shares three essentials to effective prayer. They are not techniques but undergirding principles from Scripture. The first has to do with our mindset toward God Himself. The second has to do with our focus during prayer. The third connects power in prayer to the way we live our lives. This message is for people who are hungry for more!

OUTLINE
Three Elements of Effective Prayer:

I. RESPECT

A. Familiarity:  “Our Father in heaven”
B. Honor: “Hallowed be Your name”
(Psalms 89:7; 95:6-7: 96:4)

II. FOCUS

A. Attention
Matt. 6:6 “But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your
Father
….”
B. Engaged

Spirit, Soul, and Body
Desperate prayers

III. CONSISTENCY

A. God promises not to answer prayers of those who live in rebellion
Prov. 28:9
Ps 66:18
Prov. 1:28-31

B.     Religious ritual does not substitute for obedient living
Isaiah 1:13-15
Isaiah 58:8-9

C.     Effective prayer flows out of effective living
