The Cross: Absolutely Essential (Part 1)

Paul said in 1 Cor. 2:2

“For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.”

This message declares the centrality of the cross in

(1) God’s Plan of Salvation
(2) the Church’s Message and
(3) the work of the Holy Spirit in Believers’ lives.

The cross is essential to God’s plan of salvation. Without the cross there is no salvation for mankind. Like Paul, leaders must be determined to keep the Person and Finished Work of Christ as central to the life and message of the Church. Other good things must never be allowed to take that place of preeminence.

This is part one in a two-part message. This sermon addresses the necessity of the cross in God’s Plan of Salvation and the Church’s Message.

Part two will focus on the cross in the work of the Holy Spirit in Believer’s spiritual progress.
