Maintaining Healthy Boundaries Part 1

The Bible opens with a chaotic scene: Gen 1:2 “the earth was a shapeless, chaotic mass….” (LB). God brought order into that chaos by setting boundaries. Our lives and our relationships can be chaotic and even painful if we do not establish and maintain healthy boundaries.

This sermon is the first of a two-part message on the subject of boundaries. This first part deals with maintaining healthy boundaries for our own behavior, self-discipline. We must deal with our own tendencies to manipulate and control others before we can effectively set boundaries toward behavior coming into our lives from others.

The next message will address principles for maintaining boundaries toward other people’s interaction in our lives.

The principle guiding both sermons is the text found in Rom. 14:12, “So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.”
